Neuromuscular disorders

There are many types of neuromuscular disorders including spinal muscular atrophy, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, Friedreichs ataxia and Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease.

Diagnosing a neuromuscular disorder may involve one or more of the following diagnostic tests.

Treatment for a neuromuscular condition is often a multidisciplinary and holistic approach. It depends on the exact disorder and what the long-term implications are. Some disorders have treatments that lead to a cure, others may have novel therapies that help change the natural course of the disease. Often the goal of therapies is to slow the progression of the disease.
